Why would you do anything like this? With Emacs, you can use the "org-babel" package to develop reproducible code blocks that can, when tangled together, build complete source code for your project.

In this instance, I'll be showing you how to do this with WordPress. Using org-babel with PHP can help you keep track of the sometimes complicate process of organizing different blocks of code that do differ things. But this is, of course, not limited to themes. You can use this same approach to develop plugins for WordPress. If you already enjoying developing with Emacs, this is a great to introduce literate programming concepts into your projects.
