In this video Dan goes over the differences between SFP28 and QSFP28, which should not be mistaken for each other because of their similar names. While the SFP28 module is defined by its ability to support transmission rates of 25GB in one lane, the QSFP28 supports 4 lanes of 25G, for an aggregate data rate of 100G!

Working hand in hand, QSFP28 to SFP28 breakout connectivity demonstrate how both cables complement one another in 100G networks. Breakout cables, known as DACs and AOCs, are a great solution for upgrading your network without the added complexity of fiber cabling. Breakout DAC and AOCs consist of a 100G QSFP28 end, split to four 25G SFP28 ends to aggregate 25G traffic to a 100G port.
